Ahlulbayt News Agency: Hamas’s chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya said his Movement is ready to enter a new round of talks aimed at sealing a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip
“We reaffirm that we are ready for a new, serious round of negotiations aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement,” Hayya said, adding that contacts are underway with mediators to achieve that.
In a recorded speech on Thursday, Hayya said that Hamas did not reject the latest proposal by US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff but rather offered some observations and improvements aimed at ending the war and ensuring the dignified delivery of aid and relief to civilians.
The Hamas leader also affirmed that his Movement is ready to promptly transfer governance in Gaza to any professional Palestinian body that is nationally agreed upon.
He pointed to the Israeli occupation government, specifically premier Benjamin Netanyahu, as the main obstacle to reaching an agreement, stressing that Netanyahu “does not want to end the war for personal and ideological motives.”
